Quote of the Day: "I was starting to believe the reason it matters to care passionately about something is that it whittles the world down to a more manageable size." –Susan Orlean, Adaptation, The Orchid Thief
Love one another but make not a bond of love:Don't ever grow in anybody's shadow, you cannot grow in someone else's shadow. You find your own sunlight and you get as big and wonderful and as glorious as possible. And you share, telling them, "Let's communicate, let's talk, let's let it happen." But it doesn't happen in someone else's shadow. There you wilt, you forget who you are, you lose you and if you've lost you, you've lost the most essential thing you have. So I am one and one but we're two and we're together. You're an "I". I am an "I" and we are together an "us".
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone, though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
Stand together and yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple, in order to hold up the temple, stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress do not grow in each other's shadow
